  • Youth Faith Formation

    St. John's Church provides a comprehensive religious education curriculum, free of charge, to any students who would like to attend.  Click the links to the left for specific schedules and sign-up information.

    General Schedule for Reopening

    Religious Education classes will resume in September 2021.  Our schedule for classes this year will be as follows (see calendar for specific dates and adjustments for holidays):

    1st Eucharist/Confession Sundays (TBA) 9:00-10:00 Xavier Center  
    Grades 1 & 2  Sunday 9:00-10:00 Church Hall  
    Grades 3 & 4  Sunday 9:00-10:00 Church Hall  
    Grades 5 & 6  Sunday 9:00-10:00 Church Hall  
    Grades 7 & 8  Sunday 11:15-12:15 Church Hall  
    Grade 9  Sunday 11:15-12:15 Church Hall  
    Confirmation ( age 15+)   Tuesday   6:15 - 8:30   Lower church  

    * A PARENTS MEETING FOR GRADES 1-9 WILL TAKE PLACE SUNDAY SEPT 19TH AT 9:05 AM IN THE XAVIER CENTER. PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO BE THERE. THANKS!

    A "home study" option will be provided for grades 1-9. Parents opting for this will recieve curriculum materials and access to our curriculum website (PFlaum) in order to teach your own children at home.

    If you would like to enroll in the "home study" option please register your child for classes like normal and then email Dianne Gustowski to let her know that you will need home study materials.

    Volunteers

    Parishioner volunteers are essential to keeping the religious education program running.  Volunteers serve in the following areas:

    • Catechists: Take a lead role in instructing students in the faith
    • Classroom Aides: Provide support for students in religious ed classes
    • Door Monitors: Help monitor door traffic during religious ed classes
    • Service Projects: Assist with service projects throughout the year
    • Summer Program Aide: Teens are invited to assist with the yearly Catholic Camp summer program

    Please email Dianne Gustowski if you are interested in volunteering.  Volunteer forms can be found under the documents at the side of this page.

    Family Mass: Sundays at 10:15 AM

    Students are encouraged to attend the 10:15 Mass on days when Religious Education classes are being held.  Students also serve as lectors, take up the collection, and serve in other ways as needed.  

    Online Registration

    All registration for religious education classes takes place online.  Choose the class you wish to register a child for under the "Education" tab.  Then follow the registration link for that class as directed.
