St. John's Parish opens its doors to the homeless each winter by providing a temporary shelter when temperatures drop below freezing. A team of volunteers convert the lower church and hall into "Hotel Grace" - a sleeping area that contains over 50 beds. The shelter is staffed throughout the night, providing a safe and warm place for local men and women to rest and escape the cold.
Hotel Grace is part of an interdenomination effort to serve the homeless in Worcester, in partnership with Net of Compassion, All Saints Episcopal and the Unitarian Universalist churches.
Many volunteers are needed to keep the shelter staffed and running during the winter. Please contact the rectory if you are interested in volunteering.
